Cirque du Soleil-Seattle Trip

Jonathan, Emily, Jason, and I went to Seattle two weeks ago and saw Kooza by Cirque du Soleil. It was awesome by the way! (Here's a clip of the best part of the show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4DfSBnBR08 make sure you watch the whole thing) We stopped at the lookout halfway between Spokane and Seattle.

Emily found us an awesome deal on a two bedroom suite at the Marriott.

The kitchen was fully loaded with a stove, microwave, dishwasher, sink, full fridge, silverware, and dishes. Luckily we brought our own snacks because they charged for everything at this hotel, like $5 for a small bottle of water...

Our show was Friday night so we stayed most of the day Saturday and walked around downtown Seattle. Here's just a few pictures of things that we saw during the five mile detour Emily took us on.

We ate lunch at some seafood restaurant and ate hamburgers. They gave us butcher paper and crayons so Emily and I played the game dots and Jonathan, of course, drew a ninja.

Random Babblings

We got a puppy! We were going to move but literally at the last second decided not to and get a dog instead. We went to a local shelter and found this cutie. As you can see she's all black with a white patch on her chest and the tips of her toes and she has big pointy ears. I didn't want a puppy but she's not as bad as I thought she would be. She has lots of energy but is pretty mellow most of the time. She loves playing with the kids and is such a smart and sweet little girl. Can you guess her name? Remember Jon has a sense of humor.

3 bored & hungry kids + mom in the shower + dad still sleeping = flour, oatmeal, & pam spray mess that takes hours to clean. At least our couch got a much needed wash.

Lexi turned 2 on March 20th. Grandma & Grandpa Plumb gave her her own personal frog blanket. She loves it and the frog that came attached to it.

Grandma Marlene & Fred sent Lexi a giftcard and she had a blast picking out her own present.

Jonathan decided to build his own desktop. He bought every piece for it from a different website and got our card flagged for theft from doing it that way but saved us a bunch of money. The kids were entertained for hours watching him put it together.

Soda cans + 2 year old = entertainment for hours. Lexi likes to rearrange things as you can see.

One rainy day the kids were running around the apartment screaming and Jon finally told them that if they didn't stop screaming he'd duct tape their mouths shut. Being silly children they said "ok, do it" so he did. Everyone was happy. Too bad Lexi and Logan took theirs off before I could get a picture of them.

I got a short video of Faith and Logan playing Just Dance for the Wii. It's really fun to play and even more fun watching people play.

A Personal Reminder

I've been looking for an obituary for my dad and found this one that a cousin wrote. Wanted to put it on my blog as a reminder since this has pretty much turned into a family scrapbook for us.

Gene Curtis Ctibor, of Hurricane, Utah, peacefully went into his Heavenly Father's arms surrounded by his loving family at the Veteran's Hospital in Salt Lake City on June 21, 2007, concluding a courageous sixteen year fight against leukemia. Gene was born to Eileen and William Ctibor in Whittier, California, on June 16, 1949, which is where he also spent his formative years. Gene was a member of the Associated Press High School National Championship Football Team. After graduation from high school, Gene immediately joined the United States Navy and, after finishing boot camp, successfully completed three months of torturous training at the Navy's Underwater Demolition Team/Sea Air Rescue School at Coronado. He was then immediately assigned to Cruiser/Destroyer Squadron Seven as a Sea Air Rescue Swimmer, trained to rescue downed pilots, and subsequently served two tours of duty in Vietnam on the United States Destroyer Pritchett, DD561. He continued his education at Fullerton Community College receiving an AA Degree in graphic arts.

Gene was fortunate to marry Marlene McBride and together raised five wonderful children and was a loving, caring father. As a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he served in many capacities over the years, including two Bishoprics. His favorite calling was when he served the Young Men.

Even though he experienced periods of time during his illness that nearly totally incapacitated him, he never ever complained. He refused to give in and, as a result, amazed people with his ability to bounce back because of his positive attitude and intense resilience for life. In the 2002 Winter Olympics, he was one of the chief officials on the slopes for the "Super G" and "Downhill" events. One week before his death he was camping at Zion National Park with his brothers, cooking and serving the food they ate. Upon his return he then played nine holes of golf. He was truly an inspiration to everyone who was lucky enough to know him.

He will be missed!

Gene is preceded in death by his mother Eileen and his brother Tom. He is survived by his beautiful wife of thirty-one years, sons Dustin, Brandon and Clint, daughters Xandra and Ashley, his wonderful mother- sons- daughters- brother- and sisters-in-law, as well as his father and two surviving brothers. In addition, Gene was extremely proud of his ten grandchildren who will carry his legacy throughout their lives.
